10 Things to Do on a Rainy Day

Umbrellas are popping open here and there as the rainy season officially begins in the Philippines. In this wet season, staying safe and dry indoors is the best thing to do. But that doesn’t stop us from having fun, does it? Here’s a list of 10 things to do on a rainy day.

1. Binge-watch your favorite series

The rain is your excuse to lounge all day and be lazy. And what better way to do that than to binge-watch your favorite series! All you need are a high-speed internet connection, some microwavable popcorn, and your most comfortable pajamas.

2. Bond over board games

Board games are a classic pass time. Now is the right time to rummage for that Monopoly or Scrabble boards buried in your shelf and have some fun with your friends or family.

3. Learn a new dish

Make your mama proud by learning how to cook a new dish. It doesn’t have to be a complex dish, just something you can make out of what resources you have. Your next spaghetti or stew a la (insert your name here) is underway.

4. Read a book

Whether it’s a love story, a thriller, or a self-help book, reading by the window pane with the sound of raindrops hitting the pavement outside can be very nostalgic. If you’re a book worm, you’d understand exactly what we mean.

5. Declare it a cheat day

The rain is your excuse not only to be lazy, but also to binge on comfort food. Let’s face it, rain or shine, eating is one of the best ways to enjoy yourself.

6. Have a nice, warm bubble bath

While the rain pours outside, pour yourself a glass of wine and unwind in nice, warm bubble bath. Play some music or watch a chick flick and you’re certainly in for a great time.

7. Go online shopping

If you’re a true shopaholic, the rain won’t stop you from doing what you love. And there’s nothing like shopping in your comfortable bed. All thanks to the internet, you can buy all sorts of things from clothing, toys, and gadgets with just a few clicks.

8. Tidy up

It may also be time to tidy your place up. Whether it’s your closet, your kids’ playroom, or your kitchen that needs some cleaning, it’s best to do so on a rainy day when you’re stuck indoors and looking for something productive to do.

9. Create some crafts

If you’re the artsy kind, you’d surely forget about the rain as you keep yourself busy with some do-it-yourself crafts. Collect some photos and put a scrapbook together, or liven up your bedroom with colorful decors.

10. Sleep in

There’s just something about the rain that makes for a deeper, more satisfying slumber. When the rain keeps you from leaving the house, you can always choose to sleep in as you please.

  • COZY AND HOMEY. This was our 6th or 7th stay and the staff is still very accommodating. The location is strategic being right beside convenience stores, mall, and restaurants… I can say we plan to make it a habit to greet the new year here.”

  • OUTSTANDING AND FRIENDLY SERVICE. The service at the facility is outstanding from arrival to departure. Any thing you ask for is done promptly and with a smile. The gym is pretty good with all the requirements of a hotel gym, with sauna, personal trainers and group classes.”

  • FABULOUS LOCATION AND SUPERB STAFF. The suites themselves are excellent with modern self catering facilities, fabulous bathrooms, comfy beds and exceptionally clean. The location is great for the CBD and restaurants and malls are all close by.”

  • COMFORTABLE HOME AWAY FROM HOME. I stayed in the Discovery suites hotel for 7 weeks in March and April while in Manila for work. And it was very easy for me to start calling it home after a few days! The location is great – podium mall across the street, Starbucks next door and across the street, megamall and Robinson’s galleria only a couple of blocks away.”
