Discovery Hospitality Corporation in partnership with Pristine Solutions, Don Revy and Engkanto just had it’s 2nd inter-property Food and Beverage Competition last September 6 at Discovery Suites called Culinary Cup. Aimed at showcasing the service and culinary skills of the different F&B departments, all five properties under Discovery Hospitality: Club Paradise Palawan, Discovery Suites, Discovery Country Suites, Discovery Primea and Discovery Shores Boracay sent their own representatives to compete in this event.
The Culinary Cup had 4 main competitions under the said event namely Table Setting, Hot Selection, Bartending and Pastry although these events focused only on one recurring theme, Vegan. The challenges included mystery ingredients such as Beyond Burgers. Beyond Sausages, Daiya Vegan Cheese Provolone Style and a Vegan Cheesecake which the contestant needed to utilize in the making of their respective dishes.
The competition was judged by Head of Sales for Don Revy Aries Mayuga, celebrity chef Shiela Lopez, Dine.ph editor Alu Aran and Foodservice Philippines President Adolf Aran Jr. Here are the results:
Table Setting
Discovery Shores Boracay represented by Ma. Aurora Abraham Estolloso took home both the Table Setting Championship as well as the People’s Choice Award for Table Setting with this yellow and blue themed table set-up.
Hot Selection
Chef Alvin Christian Trinidad and Chef Ronaldo Colis of Discovery Suites was hailed as the Culinary Champion for Hot Selection with their Vegan Dumplings and Fried Sausage Quinoa.
Bartending
Discovery Primea‘s Martin Ben Protacio brought home the Bartending championship with this cocktail made from a blend of almond milk, Daiya vegan cheese and GlenAlmond Whisky.
Pastry
Club Paradise Palawan emerged victorious in the Pastry competition with this Vegan Salted Caramel Lava cake made by Chef Roberto Dacsil and Chef Ranie Espenida.
